On the East German Railways metre gauge system at Gernrode, 0-4-4-0T Mallet 99 5902 shunts goods wagons at Alexisbad on the afternoon of 2 August 1977. According to The Last Steam Locomotives of Eastern Europe by P Ransome Wallis this was one of 12 similar locomotives built between 1897 and 1918 for the nearby Wernigerode system. In 1949 the 5 remaining locos of the class were transferred to the Gernrode system.
